Believe me when I tell you thats its even more challenging in an Airbus. We use a sidestick and the aircraft is all fly by wire. There is no true feel for the aircraft, not like that in conventional yoke operated aircraft. The automation is excellent but hand flying is very artifical and extremely challenging in gusty crosswinds. Seriously, to operate the airbus confidently you must understand the LAWS that control the flight controls and this in itself is all theory and rather complex.
