I just got back from Moscow.

I think you might want to think about this taking into consideration the arrival airport in Moscow.

SVO2 (Aeroflot, KLM, Delta) is closer than DME (BA, BMI) but the transport links are shite (hence shitemetyevo.) If you speak russian you can get a taxi for 800-1100 rubles but if not they'll try and charge you 1500+ plus it will take from 1h30 to 3hrs+ due to traffic (which is also liklely to shorten your life expectancy by 20% haha)

Also, new traffic and insurance laws mean that police have to attend traffic incidents, and they happened (not to me thankfully) on both transfers that I had. With the police stuck in the same jam, lanes (and lanes is a loose term in Russia ) can be blocked for hours.

SVO3 is not ready yet, and looks mightily small from the outside (maybe there is more to come?) but the Metro extension is still not built and nobody seems to know when it will be.

My friends landed at DME and the express train runs like clockwork to central Moscow in 45min. Get a car to pick you up from there and it will still be less time than a SVO transfer.

I think I would go BA, but hey, it's up to you dude! (Note, if you get KLM from AMS the Europe Select is the same as Economy except for better food and alcohol. I was laughing because there was me and one other guy on an huge exit row and europe select was full - haha - I get to say "so long suckers!" this time!!)

<Edit: I just read that you can check-in for your flight at Paveletsky Station before catching the train if you are departing from Moscow DME - Cool!! - I'm definately going this way next time>
