Just received email from United that they are discontinuing their Silver Wings Plus program & will no longer offer annual memberships as of 7/1/07, and effectively immediately will no longer activate, renew or extend annual memberships. Current members can redeem their credits through 6/30/07 for both domestic & international, after that, only domestic travel until end of June 2008.

Reason of course is economic: control costs & optimize revenue. Bummer, as this was one of their good customer programs.
