As one of our valued customers, I'd like to personally let you know about an exciting new development at Qantas. This week, we announced an agreement with Air New Zealand proposing to enter into a wide-ranging strategic alliance, which includes Qantas acquiring up to a 22.5 percent shareholding in
Air New Zealand over the next few years.

We look forward to being able to provide improved services and better synergies under this proposed alliance. One founded on shared objectives and common strategies.

The proposed alliance is subject to approval from the New Zealand Minister of Transport, Air New Zealand shareholders, the New Zealand Commerce Commission and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. This approval process is likely to take at least six months.

It's also our intention that Qantas Frequent Flyers will eventually be able to earn and redeem points on
Air New Zealand services. However, this is subject to regulatory approval and contractual restraints and is expected to take some time to announce.

In the meantime, we will continue to provide you with access to a global network, including the oneworld™ alliance of which Qantas is a founding member.
