Fair point. I've always found London hotels poor value compared with Paris hotels, especially at the "low end".

£10 is what I pay for my hotel in Saigon all in... gets you breakfast, airconned room, daily fruit bowl, TV inc BBC, CNN etc. Free pickup from the airport (stays >2 days), and no tipping necessary or expected!

Though there is a hotel price inflation problem in Saigon.... Used to pay US$14 a night couple of years back.
