It's exactly why we are retiring to the Waianae Coast, I get to ask my girl friends... did your husband buy you a conco in Hawaii for your 50th birthday?? I get to say yes, it was just a coincidence that it was my birthday as we had been looking at property over the whole week we were there May 2002.
We ended up buying 3 condos in 2 years, and still own 2 free and clear with one rented out long term, which covers the maintenance and taxes on both. The one we keep for ourselves is furnished Island Style and friends and family will continue to stay there until next year when it will be come our home. It's beach front, 2 pools, covered parking, security and what makes it home is the wonderful Hawaiian people we have for neighbors.

I haven't been over there since last August (work sucks) but in 24 hours I'll be leaving for SMF via SFO to HNL, using miles for 8 great days back home.
