BA Credit Note & MFU Ticket - help please!
Hi!
I have searched for relevant advice on the ultimate guide to BA thread, but have not been able to find the answer to my question. Apologies if this has been talked about on an OT.
I have recently been on holiday to SFO and had booked 5 MFU tickets in J but had to cancel one of these prior to leaving as my mother-in-law could not travel due to illness.
BA kindly issued me with a credit note (they have a special name for this I think but I cannot remember what it is) as the ticket was not refundable.
My wife and I have decided to use the airmiles the rest of us gained from the flights and take her on holiday now that she is better.
Again, we would like to purchase MFU tickets in J, and use the credit note against the cost of the WT+ tickets.
I am sure that I had checked previously with BA that I could do this, but when I rang up to book the tickets (this has to be done over the phone since I want to use the credit note) I was informed that I could not use the credit note for paying towards MFU tickets. Due to conflicting advice, I did ask the lady on the end of the phone to check. She did, and came back confirming her original thoughts.
I have been directed to the MFU terms and conditions from the ultimate guide to BA, and all I can glean from these with regards to this is:
8. When a Member books a Miles for Upgrade direct with British Airways the Member must make the relevant payment for the ticket.
Has anybody had any such experience trying to use a credit note in this way, or is anyone maybe able to please offer some advice?
