There is always a part of a market that is exceptionally price sensitive. You could say the same about DJ versus QF: generally I find either a small or no price difference between the two, yet people still fly DJ. Its not always about the product, but the percieved product. If people think JQ is budget, and they don't believe they have enough money to fly QF, then they will go straight to JQ.

I've only flown JQ on one return trip, staf class, to HNL. I got it as part of the cricket special. I've got one up coming trip that I paid full fare star class for based on that trip. It is certainly a poor mans business class, but there is nothing wrong with it, especially when you look at the equipment QF flies to HNL now. For me, I use it for a cheap J style trip to LAX, with a cheap AA fare from HNL to LAX, upgraded at the airport fr $270 e.w. and will continue to do so. .... happens when you fly, and its not alwys dealt with well. Would I be this understanding if it was me on the end of this? Probably not. But it didn't, and if it did, I've got insurance and my duty free.
