NZ offer a RTW product with premium Y (LHR-HKG-AKL-LAX-LHR) but by the time you've paid the surcharges for all the legs, you may as well pay for a J RTW anyway.
No Star product will allow you to pay for Y and upgrade just a sector or two - the entire fare would need to be reassessed and upgraded to J if you did want to upgrade a sector or two.
That's not quite correct. On a *A RTW you can pay a surcharge to upgrade to premium economy, where available. The surcharge is per flight and rather costly. If you upgrade more than a couple of flights better off with a business class RTW (especially with the relative pricing for some origins).
