I signed up yesterday and was at least able to get exit row seating for my Vegas trip next week. The woman I spoke with advised me that it's highly unlikely I'll score an upgrade but I'll call 48 hours ahead anyway. I have 2 segments on US and two on AW and she stated they will all be counted toward my Silver status. I fly again in a month so this works out great for me. Thanks FlyerTalkers!
My wife and I just made it to Platinum on the elite trial program, so I'm hoping we'll have better chances at upgrades now, but we have discovered that the exit row is a great place to be if you can't be in F.
Even as silver and gold we did pretty well on upgrades, and as I recall we were upgraded into and out of LAS as gold, but that was only on short PHX-LAS and LAS-PHX flights.
