Maybe like a 10 day (or 500 miles) trial period on a used car. If it falls apart on the way home you should get your money back. OR pray tell the infamous 'engagement period' so see if/when the wedding will be??!
So if I try the Trial Period and decide I do not like US service (or whatever) will they refund the money I spent???
It's pretty much the other way around... US is trying you to see if you qualify for elite status. They'll upgrade you to elite for 90 days (1/4 of a year) and if you make 1/4 of the requirements of any of the elite tiers in those 90 days, then you 'pass' and you get to keep your status. If you don't, then you turn back into a pumpkin in 90 days.
