Indeed that will be the mantra. Got stuck in NYC during the Feb. storms, only flight w/availability was from BOS so I took the train to BOS, and when I inquired about compensation/reiumbursement, I rec'd a very nice note stating precisely what you anticipate above.
Unfortunately if the airlines had to pick up the tab for all of the expenses for every passenger when bad weather set in the airlines would be in a lot worse shape financially than they are now.
I got out of DFW just ahead of the storms on Friday (really bumpy for about 20 minutes headed west) but from what I saw on the news it was a real mess there. Of course New England is catching it this weekend. I've heard that Dallas is having storms from Tuesday on this coming week and I'm flying through there 3 times this week. It could be a very long week!
