E.g. 'A' means 'discounted F' on LH but 'cheapo Y' on AC. If you were to book a cheapo flight on LH metal under an AC codeshare # in AC's A class, that wouldn't mean you get to sit in F !

The complimentary food for Y M U pax is not much to get excited about in any case. There are no 'meals' as such in Y within North America , there is merely a selection of BOB sandwiches and junk food. As a YMU pax your sole distinguishing privilege is that you get 1 sandwich and 1 candy bar/packet of crisps out of the trolley for free. You still have to pay for wine/spirits ; non-alcoholic drinks are free for everybody.
Lattitude and Lattitude Plus costumers receive $7 dollars worth of On Board Café **AND/OR** bar items whichever way they please to use their entitlement.

Another option is to buy online at the time of your booking an On Board Café voucher for $5 worth $7 when on board. Again you can spend it on bar and/or food.

As a side note I flew Aer Lingus between LHR and DUB last year... a cup of tea was charged GBP1.60. Same on BMIbaby (CDG and EMA) and EazyJet (EMA and FCO). Other airlines such as Sterling out of Danemark have a vary creative sort of On Baord Café menu available but a special dietary meal will cost up to EUR22.50!

With articles priced $1 to $5 or a $10 combo worth $12 I think our menu isn't overpriced and has enough options to tie you over till you're on the ground and can either have a decent (whatever decent means to you) meal at a restaurant or even better at home.

Cheers!
