I am wondering if anyone has stayed at the Dream Hotel in Bangkok. Supposedly, it is a very hip and chic boutique which just opened last Summer. They have a great rate for 60sm junior suite for $208/night. Tripadvisor says good things about it. We stayed at the Peninsula last time for two nights. The first night was great but not the second was not. I find the Pen to be a cold business hotel with an unfriendly staff (which is so out of character for Thailand!) In its defense, it has a great view and efficient service along with a great pool, wonderful food and a good rate. The FS looks nice but a little dated and no view since it is not on the river.
