I thought that too until I recently tried to book an (admittedly complicated) OW award for my spouse, using the QF site to spot availability that I could then get AA to grab. Not so, especially regarding BA flights shown on the QFF site as being available for awards - they were not visible to the AA person in several instances. I suspect QF and BA have access to each other's inventory that differs from AA's.
