Sent to Qantas......

.....where it will probably be ignored!

I have recently had occasion to fly across a range of routes on the Qantas domestic network, all of then in economy. It has struck me that there is a distinct lack of cohesion across the economy brand being offered by Qantas on domestic sectors.

Qantas offers the CityFlyer service between SYD, BNE and MEL (in all three directions) - on all of these CityFlyer flights, there is no tea or coffee offered after 1600, instead a complimentary bar service is provided. This is applicable on weekdays only.

Those who travel on other routes, or on weekends, are provided with tea or coffee, and if they wish to partake in beer or wine, have to pay for it.

It strikes me as somewhat incongruous that I was able to fly TSV-BNE-SYD, and had to pay for a beer on the TSV-BNE sector yet it was free on the BNE-SYD sector. It also strikes me as strange that I can get a free beer on the 1700 SYD-MEL flight on a day that does not begin with an "S", but if the day DOES begin with an "S" I have to pay for it.

Should there not be a consistent domestic product? I do not intend to enter into a debate over the current standards of domestic catering, in particular with regard to the boxes, etc. I think that on the flights I normally do, the catering is adequate. All I am asking for is some consistency - I should be able to get the same level of service on CNS-DRW on a weekend as I do on a SYD-MEL at 1700 on a weekday.
