Unfortunately most North American airlines charge for meals on flights (as far as I know, I don't do that much US flying). Some have a selection of snack boxes that you can buy, while others have different sorts of selections. Most offer complimentary soft drinks, etc. but make you pay for alcohol. I think most flights under 2 hours don't even allow you to buy any sort of food on board.

If your ticket is an AC flight number with an H booking class, I don't think you will receive a free meal. If it is a codeshare for another airline, but is operated by AC, you might be in luck as the H class might map to an Y, M, or U fare.

Booking classes differ from airline to airline. For example R class on NZ is in BC, whereas R class on AC is EC. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any public source for mapping fares from airline to airline.
