I'm Gold on Continental but I'm thinking of switching to WorldPerks this year because of the better lounge benefits from NW World Club membership and 100% EQM on Sky Team airlines that I can't get on CO. But I like CO service better and I think it is a better run airline for the long term. I'm also considering switching to Air France Flying Blue (I'm flying Air France to europe this summer) because of the lower requirements for elite status and 100% EQM although AF doesn't offer the UGs that I enjoy a lot domestically on CO, particularly since I became gold. However, if I switch this year I won't benefit from being gold at CO the rest of the year, so that is a problem! Is it worth it to switch clubs at this point for what might be somewhat better benefits in the future?
If you are considering FB, why don't you make your reservations on CO using your CO FF#. That way you are still elligible to get your EUAs, at least on the outbound domestic flights. The day of departure, log on to CO.com, go into your reservation and change your FF # from CO to AF. That you you cash in on Elite Access and EUAs, but still get credit on AF. I did it last year after getting re-qualified as PLAT. I had all my subsequent flights credited to FB to get FB status. You do not get EUAs on AF on transatlantic flights, but you do get bumped up front quite a bit on European flights and you get more luggage allowance as an elite.
