Did you actually get a confirmation from an agent that there were 14 seats open? The seatmap view is not always a good indication of how many seats are actually booked or are open since some people with reservations may not have seat assignments yet...

Right now, DL 34 ATL-JNB on 4/15 looks like this: J9 D0 I0. If the cabin is truly wide open, it should look more like J9 D9 I9.
