Interesting. My experience with QF is only on a revenue ticket, and they were very flexible and keen to please ... maybe I was the beneficiary of their rigid policy in keeping seats empty for last second changes.
But I am puzzled why they wouldn't want to move an award seat forward by an hour or two right before flight time (at that point they have much better chance of residual demand filling the award seat freed in the later flight by moving it forward). Maybe it is too difficult to do in the computer.
