Canadian Companies, Air Canada included, are ruthless when it comes to HR policies and job layoffs.

They don't care. We all know. It's become accepted in the corporate world.

The unions are idiots. Their only ideas are to scream 'what about me!' and 'we deserve so much more'. They can't get public sentiment screaming "ME, ME, ME', yet they still keep trying.
