cigarette smoke is on the "complaint" list. Avis will have no problem compensating you with a different car, or better car, if you complain about smoke on the spot.

That perfume you are talking about is "avis scent".

that stuff, though a carpet cleaner, when sprayed in the air intake vents usually cleans out 80% of the smoke smell. Heavy smoker cars usually need an enzyme bath and a good 3-4 hours worth of Ozone treatment to get the smell out.

One of the reasons ive been an advocate of returning to a smoking/non smoking fleet.
