My brother leaves this week for a 2 week trip to Australia. Flying from LAX and taking a couple of Qantas domestic flights as well, prior to flying back to LAX.

He has no status with any airlines, and is a regular only on Southwest Airlines. What airline FF program should he join and book this QF miles to ? Will the domestic flights in Australia count as well ?
