I just looked up the KUL-PVG flights for a trip we're planning later in April. It looks like the overnight flight is a 330-- ouch, these are terrible old style really not much more than domestic US F. In other words, not enough recline to sleep. The daytime flight is a 772, which I think all have been refurbished. The ones I've flown are nice, the typical angle flat seats.
We flew NRT last year on an overnight KUL-NRT and it was a 772. I think the daytime flight is also a 772.
Someone else should correct me if I am wrong but I think they refurb'd all the 772's so that would be the way to go.
You want to avoid the 330 if you can.
