I have flown from Islip (think it did have the full name as well but that is what it is known as locally) and it is a tiny airport and is a good 2 hours drive from Manhatten, I think their is an OK train service.

Sadly it is quite handy for one of my clients coupled with (presumably) Stanstead at this end could save me 5-6 hours 'vs LHR - JFK so might be a consideration, on the other hand it might not...
