Something that's been nagging a lot at me recently is the big gap between economy and biz prices. I've always read that J/F passengers subsidise the Y ones, and I wonder why the airlines don't reduce the number of economy cabins (maybe even to 1), convert the space to business (or premium economy), and lower the business class price (or set a premium economy price) to cover the difference or even make a bit more money. And the lesser weight of pax could also mean more cargo.
Speaking for myself, I can probably afford $3k-$5k for that sort of product longhaul to JFK or LHR, even when I can't justify the $8k-10k. That would also compete with eg MH or Emirates prices, and steal away J pax from United or BA.
It's so annoying falling in the fare gap and having to settle for economy
