To each their own--but this thread reminds me of the mental calculus I did as a teenager as friends would spend $20 to go to a rock concert when they could buy the album for $5 and listen to it *forever*.
Now my Led Zeppelin albums are in the basement, their $15 replacement CDs collecting dust on a shelf, some songs languish on oldies playlists of my iPod but the memory of Zeppelin's acoustic set at the San Diego Sports Arena in June of 1977 is burned into my brain and still makes me smile!
Experiences are what last, not stuff. Live and learn.
That's exactly why I don't pay any money beyond coach class. I think of all the other travels I could fund with the money that I would pay towards upgrading to a higher class. Staying longer in places or taking another vacation, means more experiences, so I definitely agree with you!
