I agree that one should receive a substantial discount for subjecting one's self to TED, but that thinking isn't shared by the nice folks at UAL.

I doubt that the fares are discounted
at all for the Ted portions. Even if UA offered a discount for the Ted segments, I doubt it would make up for the dramatic letdown after a transoceanic flight in an F suite (or C seat). If I were one of those people who only flew paid F and C, I would probably be traumatized by the downgrade from a champagne flute to a single plastic cup.
