What's Up with Turndown Service?
I have noticed a real inconsistency at full-service properties regarding the frequency and content of evening turndown service. What's been your experience?
a) Every room gets turned down every night.
b) Only concierge rooms get turned down every night.
c) Only platinum rooms get turned down every night.
d) Some version of a, b, or c that only applies to weeknights.
e) Some version of a, b, or c that seems to apply to random nights.
And then what's included in the turndown?
a) A couple of Astor chocolates tossed on the pillow.
b) Bedsheets pulled down and chocolates on the pillow.
c) A room freshening including new towels, emptied trash cans, folded down bed, and chocolates.
d) Something special like a more substantial snack.
Every property seems different, and even the same properties seem different on different stays. I can't find any pattern at all! FWIW, what I'd like to see is every room given a proper freshening at night. I guess that's unrealistic except at the Ritz-Carlton, but it doesn't seem unreasonable for concierge and platinum guests. What do my fellow flyertalkers think?
