Neither airline flies scheduled services to Goa - but they do to Mumbai. Is that where you are looking? If so, Virgin fly the A340-300 on this route. BA's legroom isn't great in economy, but Virgin is brutal.

Also do consider Jet Airways - a very good airline indeed. You are right to disregard Air India.
