I am in a non-demanding mode with good demeanor and try to be friendly with them. Most of the time I do smile. I note that I try to force myself to drink at least the recommended amount of water in flight. Maybe it is because I am a woman. On wide bodies, mid flight, maybe they don't like getting off their duff to join me in the galley to pour water in my glass or when I request more ice that they have to go to the galley to get more.
I have gotten better water service in E+ exit row on a 757 numerous times than in F. I have had FAs add water to my glass everytime they go by.
