Booked two 5-day stays for $42.30 each! (7/8-7/13 and 7/15-7/20).
Nice job CalItalian!

I started a thread about the 3-day version of this deal (MEGA50), which works better when some of the days are pricey, and the 5-day MEGA100 is too expensive. For example, 5/13-5/16 and 5/20-5/22.

In total, I snagged 16 days for $162 (minus 2 $5 free-plays = $152).
Fantastic! I've got 14 free days from Harrah's for the next few months, and this'll allow me to visit for 30 days for $152. Sweet!

El Cortez has a blue-collar casino area, but the rooms are much better than you'd expect from the casino. Nice 3* (almost 4*) type rooms. I vaguely recall they were better than the Flamingo and much better than the Stratosphere, but not as nice as Bally's and Paris.

If you want a good shot at the $5 slot free-play, play a 1-2-4-8 or 1-3-7 progression on slot BJ. It gives a pretty good shot at getting $3-8 from your $5 match play.

The $5 food coupon you can give away to homeless people. El Cortez's Cafe's pretty lousy. The expensive restaurant is ok (if you get a comp).

WARNING: The casino area smells a bit...like some 0-1* hotels.

The 0* Ogden House part of El Cortez used to be the place to snag $19 all-in hotel rooms on those weekends when the hotels were $500+, but the price at Ogden House has bumped up to $33-37, so it's not such a deal anymore.

Free Food: Check out the interior of the high rollers areas in Caesar's Palace and Venetian (I think). The have food 24 hrs/day. Dinner buffet (3 dishes) comes out around 7 pm at Caesar's. At other times, they have petit sandwiches, some very good strawberries/blackberries, and some Chinese wet-rice and stuff. You can ask for instant noodles and drinks (alcoholic/regular).

Just look like you're betting $5,000 chocolate chips or the $25,000 big red chips. ;-)

-----
Free Clubs: Ask for a "souvenir" room key at Caesar's Palace. On most nights, it will let you into the $20-30 Pure and other nightclubs at Caesar's for free. Usually it will let you jump the VIP line.

----
Cheap rental cars: Often you can snag $12/day ($17 all-in) cars at Thirfty.com if you reserve in advance, and refare during price drops (SAMS is often 10% off, use eBates for another 1-3% rebate). Thrifty Blue Chip gives 1 free day for every 8-16 days rented.

E-mail if you want other tips...
I'll be in Vegas 4/10-4/17, 5/13-5/24, 6/10-6/14(maybe), 7/8-7/20.
Buzz me if you're in town! :-)
