Last week I tried to book a flight in C from SNA to HKG on united.com. I was trying to use a 10% of e-certificate which brought the fare from $5800 to around $5300. Everytime I tried the booking I received an error message, so I called the 1K line. As soon as I mentioned the word "e-certificate" I was told by the agent to call the united.com 800#. The call was answered after about 10 minutes by an agent who then put me on hold for over an hour, before the error was fixed and the flight was finally booked.
It is unbelievable that the 1K line can't help with discounts united.com bookings, especially when I was trying to give them over $5K!!!
