I have been in airports where the monitors are run by the airport authority, so the airline has no control. I have also wondered if the monitors change the status of flights automatically if the flight does not go into irregular operations, even if it should.
What I never figured out is why DL will broadcast a final boarding call/door is closing momentarily at ATL in concourse E for a flight at A3.
