On long haul first class flights I inform the FAs that I drink lots of ice water. On most flights I rarely have water in my glass for most of the flight, let alone ice. I do get up and ask for a refill, but some of the FAs appear not to like that. Some give the impression that I am bothering them in the galley, others that I shouldn't get up to ask.
I think it must be your demeanor. I always fly f/C and never have a problem in this regard. Of course, I am a good looking guy with a pleasant smile.
It doesn't hurt to appear to be nice from time time.
