Misleading signs on security lines

I was in this line this morning, and it was moderately long but moved quickly. What is unfortunate is that right next to this "elite" line is a more expedited line for which the eligibility is listed thus on the sign at the start of the line:

Global Services
United First
- International

So I and many others flying in domestic F tried entering this line but were eventually rebuffed and asked to re-enter the regular elite line. The sign shown above is meant to imply that one must be either UGS or else flying in F INTERNATIONALLY.

Why post a sign that is ambiguous? Why not say:

Global Services
Uinted First - International only

Upon re-entering the regular elite line after being rebuffed from this adjoining line, we domestic F passengers in effect broke back into the elite line, which may have angered those in the elite line who felt that we should, perhaps rightly, go all the way to the back of the elite line instead of barging in from where we were rebuffed.

Neither I nor a single other rebuffed domestic F passenger went all the way back to the end of the elite line, which was fairly long by then. We simply re-entered the elite line, i.e. in effect we broke back in. No "rage" incidents took place, but why not have greater clarity in signage to prevent misunderstanding?
