Since there is (apparently) no 1st class between SYD and AKL then I would like to get the best part of it by travelling in the 1st class seats on a biz class flight. I have travelled From AKL-SYD on QF44 and sometimes there is a 744, so if I am in rows 1-4 then I get the 1st class seats. I have done some extensive checking but there seem to be no scheduled flights for 744's on this route apart from QF116.


Well, there is one strange 74L flight (whatever that means)... but apart from that only 742 or 743 on selected flights. Any ideas what 74L means?


Then there are flights QF115/116 three times per week which appear to have 1st class on a 744. Has anyone been on these flights to know whether these are really first class flights or just biz flights in 1st class cabin?


Also, what happened to the early morning (7am) flight from SYD-AKL? It does not seem to be around any longer or is it just missing temporarily?


What are the best suggestions to getting a 1st class seat while travelling on a biz ticket (without paying extra)? Thanks.
