As to ethical, yes, a reasonable purchase is ethical (though I never mentioned beatification) a huge purchase is unethical in my opinion. It wasn't done as a 'customer' it was done as an attack on the program (admittedly within the rules as I have said all along) with no purpose other than to gouge Goldpoints for their mistake. Takings advantage of someones mistake is, well, unethecial and immoral.
