Last Friday, the flight from ORD-DEN was changed from a 767 to a 757, and the flight agent basically said "Take your original seats, but anybody in G/H seats, or higher than row 34 is pretty much out of luck". Yes, she actually said that. They tried to put people on standby for later flights, but with ORD-DEN being packed on Friday afternoons, I was certainly glad to be in a "C" seat.
I would have been furious if I was on that flight. Why would a 1K on a B fare be kicked off the flight but the GM on a T fare gets to stay, only by virtue of seat assignment?
When the flights are on time and everything is running smoothly, I think UA is a good airline. But throw in irregular operations and if you're not a UGS, forget it.
