Arriving on BA9 - connecting to QF 1471 to CBR - question re: transiting in SYD -
Hi folks, hopefully someone on this forum might be able to help me out with a transit question. This is my first time in here - usually you'll find me lurking on the BA forums - but as I am moving out to Australia to work for a few months you might see a bit more of me.
I have done the pre-requisite searches of both this forum and google, but haven't quite come up with enough information to answer my questions.
I am arriving in SYD at 6.05am on BA 9, then connecting onto QF 1471 (dep 09:20am) to CBR.
I booked LHR-SYD and SYD-CBR on separate tix as the price difference when booking them together on one itinerary compared to buying them separately was ridiculous. I have checked in online via BA.com for the flights into SYD, but I am curious to know whether I will be able to check my bags straight through to CBR even though they two tix aren't on the same itinerary?
If it is not possible to check straight through (won't be surprised if this is the case as I vaguely recall some heavy duty customs and immigration arrangements from my last visit), will a check-in agent in LHR (or the lounge desk at BKK) be able to give me a boarding pass for CBR anyway?
I haven't been to SYD for 6 years or so, so my memory of how connections etc work is a bit rusty.
I have read about the 'seamless' transfer desk - so hopefully I will be able to make use of that, and also, my reading of the lounge access rules on the OW website has led me to believe I should have lounge access in SYD T3 even though I am connecting from J on BA to Y on QF. I did want to go J domestically, but there don't seem to be many J flights available between SYD and CBR - and the ones that are available don't have great timings for me. Can anyone confirm I should have access?
