It was quite some time ago, but I was scheduled to fly JAX-DTW-FNT. Got to DTW and my noonish FNT flight had been canceled and all others were booked/overbooked. I asked the agent to route me through MSP, which she did.

FNT is a station that I am happy NW didn't outsource the customer service agents. They've really gone above and beyond in 2 rather unusual situations for me in the last year.
