In March, I received the same call as the OP for 3000 AA miles for activating "Citi Credit Protector", and 3000 more miles if I remain in it for 90 days. I called today to cancel the credit protector within the first 30 days, and was offered a $50 gift card to be chosen by me for either Target or Walmart to stay. I still cancelled...I would hate to forget to cancel later and have a big charge. I also have some orthodentia bills automatically being charged to that account. I should still get my 3000 AA miles.
I got the same phone call a month or two ago, and have been patiently waiting for the miles to post. Based on your experience, I did call Citi. I told them I kind of felt duped by the offer, because I had not received the miles. The operator was very friendly. She told me that she knew nothing about the promotional offer, but would look into the matter for me.
She too offered me the $50 gift card.
Not so bad, 6,000 miles for a few dollars of credit protector, and a $50 gift card.
