Hyatt Place Room Differences

I've stayed in two different Amerisuites that are being converted to hyatt Places. One in Dallas/Plano (one stay) and another in Sacramento/Ranco Cordova (5 stays).

Both have the same building layouts with the rooms on the ends being smaller (shorter from door to back of the room) and the rooms toward the middle of the building are larger (longer).

Each of my stays were at low weekend AAA rates of ~$71.

Even though I am diamond I have received the smallest room on every stay where as at main hyatt hotels I typically get the nicer or larger rooms as a diamond. I have selected different room types (King, 2 doubles, etc) to see if it had anything to do with this but it didn't seem to.

Can anyone comment on the difference between the smaller and larger rooms?

Has anyone else noticed if they give the smaller rooms out for the lower rates and don't give diamonds the better rooms unless they are paying a high room rate?
