On our last trip my kids had "intentions" of rating plate lunch and shave ice. Unfortunately, the only "plate lunch" they had was at L&L in Lihue for dinner since it was the only place willing to take an order at 9:45PM (even though they were closing up register late on 12/23). It was "ok" . We didn't have any other opportunities since it was Xmas eve and day and most places weren't open. We've got another trip planned for this December and have a week in Kauai and then 5 days in HNL so I'm sure we'll get to "explore" more options. Now to get a list for shave ice recommendations.
Right now I'm keeping a running list in a notebook so I'll be prepared when we got.
