Believe it or not....
Well, well, well. Here we are discussing the appropriateness of United's advertising its Thai employees, its Asian service, etc. Some posters even think such advertising is not suitable. How times have changed!
When I was a new flyer, back in the Golden Age 1968-1985, most U.S. carriers advertised their American friendliness, their American service, their American technology. My, how low we have fallen since then. Which U.S. carrier nowadays advertises its American friendliness, its American service, its American technology? Not one, that I'm aware of. What the U.S. carriers do advertise on occasion is their schedule, frequency, and perhaps low price.
A propos of United's inter-Asia service, Northwest operates similar service out of Tokyo ... and it's marvelous. Guess what? Northwest's staff of flight attendants is entirely Asian too!
There is no excuse for poor domestic service, as another poster mentioned, and we should not excuse it nor should we want to drag down other service areas to our dismal level.
