OWch...
I can only imagine that this has happened because the powers that be are gradually shuffling the airlines between terminals at NRT (rather than attempting to switch them all over in one fell swoop). This gradual shuffle does allow for some welcome improvements in the terminals - The new South Terminal delivered a huge improvement in facilities at T1. And I hear glowing reports of the AA lounges and so on at T2.
As of April 1, Continental and Delta have moved to T1. So maybe there's now some room for BA to go to T2. And then maybe Air New Zealand can join the *Ateam in T1. (Moving to T1 would also make sense for Air China and Malaysia Airlines - Have I missed any?) That would surely be better than the current state of affairs. Less confusing too for folks on codeshare flights - like NH tickets on NZ metal etc.
Anyway... if my theory about the gradual shuffle is correct, then BA appears to have pulled the short straw and ended up staying in T2 after the other OWful airlines moved to T1 - and it looks like all OWful terminal facilities were cut before BA left the building. [Insert image here of BA stuck behind enemy lines, like Lieutenant Dan, waiting for Forrest to come rescue]. Very BAd.
I can't find any official statement that BA will move to T2, but it strikes me that they must be heading in that direction.
Can anyone here confirm or quash this theory?
