I think, though, that they could make their system a whole lot cooler without much effort.

For example, they could enable online changes to bookings. Having allowed us to make the initial booking over the net, why prevent us subsequently making a date change over the net? A route change might be a bit more complicated for them, but a date change shouldn't be too much trouble, if a points-seat is available.
