I think I wear more jewelry when traveling than at home because that's when I take more time for fun clothes and getting a little more creative (less Mommy-track!) in how I look. However, the diamonds stay home. I can't wear a wedding ring - I have a bone spur in the left hand that prevents wearing a ring, and it isn't worth surgery for the sake of wearing jewelry.
Most of my "road trip" jewelry is very casual and playful stuff: a wooden penguin pendant, cloisonne earrings, a glass pendant my little boy bought for me, etc. The travel watch is a Swatch.
Oh, I do take one piece with me that has great sentimental value, but I never, ever wear it on the plane/ship/trip. It is a cross my Dad gave me, made from silver from the shipwreck Nuestra Senora de Atocha - I
especially don't wear it when traveling by sea!
