I am sorry you are getting bad service on Delta. I think most of the people on this board would say that Delta's front-line employees are some of the best in the business. That being said, the lack of training at some of the off-shore call centers is very disappointing. I have had some experience with their lack of training and it can be very frustrating.
If you do not live in a Delta dominated market, perhaps you should consider switching airlines for revenue travel and only use your Delta miles for award travel. Keep in mind that you can also fly Northwest and Continental and earn Delta miles or visa-versa (you can use your SkyMiles to fly on Northwest and Continental). Depending on how many miles you have in your SkyMiles account and how many trips you have planned, you may be free from Delta's grasps sooner than you think.
If it were me, I would value the service I receive on-board and at the airport over the service on the phone. IMO, and I hope you would agree, Delta's airport and on-board experience is superior to most domestic carriers.
