Aloha Mixed Plate does an OK job considering that all the cooks are from the mainland!
It was with great sadness that we ate our last plate lunch at Sushi-Ya in Lahaina on Prison Street adjacent to the harbor about 3 years ago. That was our local eat-in take-out plate lunch spot for a long time. It's now an activities sales office.
We get our plate lunch from Nagasako's Okazuya in the Lahaina Shopping Center. On Waine'e, between Papalaua and Lahainaluna. Love the pork and peas. That's where the locals eat. The Nagasako family has been on the west side for generations, since plantation days. Totally local, totally da kine!
The Honolua General Store serves up a good plate lunch, and has been since the 1930's, though it also has gone way upscale to cater to the nouveau brie and crackers set up there at Kapalua Bay and the Ritz. May we suggest you wash your plate lunch down with a chilled Pouilly-Fuisse?

I love the Honolua General Store. It's another place the locals eat. The food is delicious and cheap too. There is a woman there named Delia. She is a doll. I love sitting on the porch with the picnic tables. I have pictures of the inside of that place. I love it.
